Rice crackers normally make me think of dieting. Like, they're one of those foods that just scream "low fat" because really, I'm not sure who would eat rice crackers over potato or corn chips. Could just be me.
I guess these crackers sort of epitomize why I made this blog in the first place. I'm aiming to try as many different foods as I can, just to see what I like, since I'm rather tired of eating the same food over and over. So here is some seaweed rice crackers; which to me, sounds sort of idiotic. Really, because who would think seaweed tastes delicious? I mean, it's fine in sushi.. but I smother that stuff with wasabi and soy sauce so I can't really taste much else (note to self: make sushi soon).
Still, I'll call this a minor act of bravery, since I certainly wouldn't have bought these otherwise. Maybe I'm more insane than I thought, but batten down the hatches; it may be a bumpy ride.
The first thing I noticed is that these crackers are 98% fat free, whilst the other two packets I bought have 7% fat each. Surely flavouring can't load on that much fat?
Visually, they could be interpreted as pretty or disgusting. There are like, little black flickerings of seaweed on the crackers themselves which I think looks cool. They taste kind of like sushi, because there's also a soy sauce flavouring in them. If I had any wasabi nearby, I would probably go to town on these bad boys. Still, they're really not terrible. Just kind of imagine how sushi would taste with two layers of nori and no filling apart from rice. I'm glad I tried them, and I would certainly eat them if I was like, stranded in a supermarket that solely stocked these.. and meat products.
Also: just one final note, these ones you may want to eat one at a time. The flavour is better when it's more subtle. They are quite flavoursome singularly anyway.
